Chapter 11 - HEAVEN AT THIRTY THOUSAND FEET

One year later.
The private Boeing 777 cruised effortlessly at thirty-five thousand feet, cutting through a sea of pristine white clouds beneath a brilliant, endless blue sky.
Inside the redesigned master cabin suite, the warm golden sunlight poured through the wide panoramic windows. There were no tense bodyguards standing guard against threats, no frantic crying, and no shadows of fear lingering in the corners.
Marcus Vance had been sentenced to thirty-five years in an American maximum-security federal penitentiary for grand larceny, kidnapping, and biomedical fraud. Victoria Sterling was serving twelve years in an Italian facility for corporate conspiracy. Their dark reign was over, scrubbed entirely from our lives by Christian's relentless legal team.
On the plush, cream-colored leather sofa, four-year-old Maya sat proudly with a picture book, reading aloud to fourteen-month-old Noah. Noah, now a chubby, joyful toddler with thick dark curls and his father's bright, intelligent silver eyes, clapped his little hands and babbled happily, calling out his favorite word: "Mama! Maya!"
I sat beside them, resting against the soft cushions, wearing an elegant ivory cashmere sweater and the sparkling blue diamond wedding ring on my left hand.
A pair of strong, familiar arms wrapped around my shoulders from behind. Christian leaned down, resting his chin against my neck, inhaling the sweet scent of my skin before pressing a soft, lingering kiss against my temple.
"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Sterling?" he murmured, his deep voice sending a warm, delicious shiver through my veins.
I looked around the luxurious cabin, then out the window at the endless horizon, smiling as I leaned back against his solid chest.
"I was thinking about the first time I walked into this cabin," I said softly, turning my head to look into his handsome face. "A terrified woman with two hundred euros, running for her life, clutching a bruised wrist."
Christian smiled, his silver eyes softening with the boundless love and devotion that had transformed our lives. He reached down, taking my hand and interlacing his fingers with mine.
"And you walked into first class, commanded the room, and saved my son," Christian said softly. "You gave us a life, Clara. You gave me a reason to live."
Noah suddenly scrambled across the sofa on his sturdy little legs, tumbling directly into Christian’s lap with a delighted giggle. Maya followed, throwing her arms around both of us, turning our quiet moment into a joyous tangle of laughter, tickles, and hugs.

Christian scooped both children into his arms with effortless strength, pulling me into the center of the embrace, kissing the top of Maya's head, nuzzling Noah’s soft cheek, and looking at me with absolute adoration.
Thirty thousand feet in the air, in the very place where our desperate journey had begun in tears and darkness, we were finally soaring—safe, unbroken, and bound together for the rest of eternity.
