Chapter 9 - THE TIGER OUT OF THE CAGE

The rain poured in relentless sheets over Blackwood Docks, turning the abandoned shipping container yard into a labyrinth of rusted metal and muddy water. Thunder cracked overhead, lighting up the decaying warehouses like flashes of an apocalyptic warzone.
Inside Warehouse 4, little Brandon stood bravely in front of five-year-old Emma, his small fists clenched, shielding his crying sister.
Ten feet away, Richard Bennett paced like a caged hyena, holding a heavy semi-automatic pistol, surrounded by four heavily armed mercenaries.
"Shut that brat up!" Richard screamed, pointing the gun toward Emma. "Or I'll put a bullet through her head right now!"
"Leave my sister alone!" Brandon yelled, his eight-year-old voice cracking with defiance. "My mom and Mr. Bennett are coming for you!"
"Mr. Bennett is a useless cripple who can't even wipe his own backside!" Richard laughed hysterically, his sanity completely unraveled. "And your mother is going to watch both of you drown in the lake, just like she should have twenty years ago!"
Suddenly, the heavy corrugated iron doors of the warehouse blew inward with an ear-splitting detonation.
Flashbang grenades illuminated the darkness in blinding bursts of white light, followed by the deafening crackle of suppressed assault rifles. Two of Richard's mercenaries dropped instantly before they could even raise their weapons.
"What the hell?!" Richard shrieked, grabbing Brandon by the collar and hauling the boy in front of him as a human shield, pressing the cold barrel of the gun against the child's temple. "Cease fire! Cease fire or I blow his brains out!"
Through the billowing smoke and torrential rain pouring through the shattered roof, a solitary figure emerged.
Richard’s eyes bugged out of his skull. The gun in his hand began to shake uncontrollably.
Walking through the smoke, tall, broad-shouldered, and radiating the lethal menace of an ancient warrior, was Julian Bennett. He wasn't in a wheelchair. He was walking with measured, powerful strides, dressed in black tactical gear, his eyes burning with the wrath of a god.
Behind him, Marcus and the elite security team secured the perimeter with surgical precision.
"Impossible..." Richard whimpered, his voice choking on his own terror. "You're paralyzed... you can't walk..."
"You made two fatal mistakes, Richard," Julian’s voice boomed across the warehouse, deep and terrifying. "You thought poison could kill my spirit. And you touched my family."
"Stay back! I'll shoot him! I swear I'll do it!" Richard screamed, his finger tightening on the trigger against Brandon's head.
In that split second, I sprinted from the shadows behind the container stack, lunging forward with a heavy iron pipe. "Get your hands off my son!"
I swung the pipe with all the fury of a mother fighting for her cub, smashing it directly into Richard’s right elbow. Bone shattered with a sickening crunch, and the gun flew out of Richard’s grip, clattering across the wet concrete.
Brandon twisted free and sprinted into my arms, sobbing as I pulled both him and Emma into a fierce, protective embrace behind a stack of crates.
Richard dropped to his knees, clutching his mangled arm, looking up in horror as Julian towered over him like a monolith of judgment.
Julian reached down with one hand, grabbed Richard by the throat, and lifted the grown man completely off the ground with terrifying ease.
"Twenty years of lies," Julian whispered into Richard's ear, his grip tightening until Richard's face turned purple. "Twenty years of stolen lives. It ends tonight."
For a moment, I thought Julian would snap his neck. But then, Julian looked over at Brandon and Emma watching from behind the crates.

Julian threw Richard onto the ground like a sack of trash just as the blaring sirens of fifty Federal police cruisers surrounded the warehouse.
"Death is too easy for you, Richard," Julian said coldly, wiping the rain from his brow. "You will spend the rest of your pathetic life in a maximum-security cage, watching me build the Bennett empire into everything you could never be."
