Chapter 11 - THE SWEETEST DANCE
One year later.
The Voss estate ballroom was once again decorated for a celebration. But this time, it was nothing like the cold, sterile perfection of the past.
Brightly colored fairy lights hung haphazardly from the balconies, strung up by children’s hands. The tables were piled high with homemade cupcakes, messy finger paintings, and half-eaten slices of double-chocolate cake.
The room was filled with an explosion of children's laughter, the joyful stomping of running feet, and the warm hum of lively conversation. Dozens of kids—many of them former patients who had received the Genesis therapy through the foundation—ran through the open French doors into the sprawling, sunlit gardens.
At the center of the dance floor stood a massive birthday cake topped with twelve glowing candles.
Music began to play—a joyful, acoustic waltz drifting from the grand piano where Caleb Vance was playing with effortless grace.
Celeste stepped onto the dance floor. She wore a simple, elegant floral dress, radiant and completely carefree.
From the hallway, two girls came running in.
Ivy and Esme wore vibrant sundresses, their hair flowing freely behind them, their sneakers squeaking playfully against the polished wood floor. There were no wheelchairs in sight. Only the boundless, kinetic energy of twelve-year-old girls whose lives had just truly begun.
"May I have this dance, ladies?" Celeste asked, curtsying playfully.
"Only if we can lead!" Ivy laughed, grabbing her mother's right hand.

Esme grabbed Celeste's left hand, and together, the three of them spun in the center of the sunlit room, their laughter rising above the music, bouncing off the high ceilings, and filling every corner of the house with an enduring, unbreakable warmth.
The silence that had once haunted the Voss mansion was gone forever. In its place was the sweetest, most triumphant sound in the world: the sound of a family that had walked through the darkest valley of shadows and emerged, whole and unshakeable, into the light.
