Chapter 9 - WRATH OF THE ORSINI

The night sky over Massachusetts Bay turned a bruised, unnatural purple under the flashing emergency beacons and rising columns of black smoke.
For four straight hours, the underworld of the American East Coast experienced an apocalypse. Raphael didn’t negotiate. He didn't offer ransoms. He deployed his private army like a scorched-earth military division.
By 4:15 AM, Valenti’s illegal casinos in South Boston were leveled by controlled demolitions.
By 4:45 AM, three of Marco Morello’s safehouses in Quincy were raided, every associate interrogated, and every asset seized.
Inside an abandoned dry dock at Harbor Point, Boston, the cold ocean wind whistled through rusting steel beams.
Josephine was tied to a wooden chair in the center of the vast warehouse floor. Ten yards away, inside an idling mobile intensive-care van, Leo lay hooked to a portable ventilator, guarded by two armed thugs.
Arturo Valenti paced in front of Josephine, chewing on a half-lit cigar, his face bruised from Raphael's earlier assault. Marco Morello stood near the heavy iron rolling doors, pacing nervously, his radio buzzing with frantic reports of dying outposts across the state.
"Arturo, we have to move," Marco hissed, checking his watch. "Orsini took down our entire South Boston perimeter in forty minutes! He’s moving with over eighty men!"
"Shut up, Marco!" Valenti snapped, backhanding Josephine across the face. The blow split her lip, blood trickling down her chin onto her torn emerald dress. "He won't touch this warehouse. He knows if he breaches that door, I pull the plug on the kid’s ventilator."
Josephine looked up at Valenti, her eyes blazing with pure hatred. "He’s going to kill you. Both of you."
"Your boyfriend is a dead man, sweethea—"
BOOM!
The four-ton industrial steel rolling doors didn't just open—they were blown off their hydraulic tracks by a breaching charge.
The explosion hurled Marco across the floor, crashing into a stack of shipping pallets. The entire warehouse was instantly enveloped in darkness as the master power grid was cut from the outside.
Then came the sound.
The rhythmic, heavy crunch of tactical boots marching across broken glass.
Through the drifting smoke and dust, red laser sights pierced the blackness. Ten. Twenty. Fifty infrared beams painted the walls, the ceiling, and the chests of Valenti's surviving gunmen.
At the center of the formation walked Raphael Orsini.
He wore a dark tactical vest over his blood-stained dress shirt, holding an automatic shotgun in one hand and a combat blade in the other. His eyes locked onto Josephine's tied figure, and the temperature in the warehouse seemed to drop by twenty degrees.
"Drop your weapons," Raphael's voice echoed through the vast cavern of steel like a funeral toll. "Or die where you stand."
May you like
Valenti panicked. He drew his revolver and lunged toward Josephine, intending to use her as a human shield. "Stay back, Orsini! I'll blow her head off!"
