Chloe married Derek believing he was a kind, supportive partner, brushing off his mother Evelyn's eerie warnings about "family rules." The very morning after the wedding, the illusion shattered. In front of smirking relatives at the breakfast table, Derek threw a filthy rag at Chloe's feet and commanded her to kneel and wash Evelyn's feet to prove her submission. Refusing to bend, Chloe walked away to pack her emergency stash of cash and documents.
