Chapter 1 - THE NAME SHE WHISPERED
At 12:04 a.m., billionaire Daniel Whitmore wakes inside his Beverly Hills mansion after hearing his grandmother’s antique mirror shatter. In the corridor, he discovers his fiancée, Vanessa Hart, dragging the unconscious and badly injured housekeeper Maria Collins through broken glass.
Vanessa claims Maria was drunk and attacked her, but Daniel immediately knows something is wrong because Maria never drinks. Ignoring Vanessa’s insistence on avoiding publicity, Daniel calls an ambulance and accompanies Maria to the hospital.
