Chapter 1 - THE PINK SUITCASE

Damon Reyes had spent eleven years becoming the kind of man no one surprised.
Then a three-year-old girl walked into his conference room dragging a tiny pink suitcase.
Ruby Castillo passed armed guards, lieutenants, and visiting associates without hesitation, stopped directly in front of Damon, and told him four words that silenced the room.
“We have to leave.”
Her mother, Selena Castillo, worked inside the Reyes estate. She had received an anonymous phone call warning that someone was coming for the house that night. The caller knew where Selena worked, knew where Ruby slept, and told her to leave immediately.
The final message was worse.
“Tell your boss the Delgato family remembers what he did to their cousin. And tonight, they collect.”
Damon immediately halted the meeting and ordered his security chief, Marcus Ellery, to lock down the estate.
He found Selena packing in terror.
She admitted the caller had sounded frightened rather than threatening. Whoever had warned her seemed to know far too much about the estate—and far too much about the attack that was coming.
That meant only one thing.
Someone inside Damon Reyes's organization had betrayed him.
But that same person had also made sure Selena and her little girl had a chance to survive.
Damon looked at Ruby's pink suitcase, then at the terrified mother holding her daughter close.
For the first time in years, revenge was no longer the only thing that mattered.
Because the Delgatos were coming.

And somewhere among the men Damon trusted was a traitor who had apparently sold him out—
then risked everything to save a child.
