Chapter 1 - THE NIGHT MY FAMILY LEARNED WHO I REALLY WAS

For five years, Eleanor had been treated as the disgrace of her family.
Her parents never forgave her for returning home pregnant, leaving her master's program, and refusing to reveal the identity of Daisy's father. Her younger sister Allison became everything Eleanor supposedly was not—polished, respectable, obedient, and now married to wealthy Houston businessman Ryan Whitaker.
At Allison's extravagant wedding outside Scottsdale, Eleanor and four-year-old Daisy were deliberately seated near the service entrance, excluded from photographs, ignored by relatives, and openly insulted by Eleanor's mother.
When Daisy accidentally knocked over a glass of wine that splashed Allison's wedding dress, the entire family turned on them.
Eleanor's father shoved her while she was holding Daisy.
Mother and daughter fell into the garden fountain.
Instead of helping, guests laughed and applauded.
Ryan raised his champagne glass and mocked them, saying people from "certain levels" would always ruin everything.
Then the courtyard doors opened.
Arthur Sterling walked in.
The billionaire whose company had recently acquired Ryan's firm walked straight into the fountain, wrapped his jacket around Daisy, kissed her forehead, and revealed the truth no one in Eleanor's family knew.
Eleanor wasn't an abandoned single mother.
She was Arthur Sterling's wife.
Daisy was his daughter.
Ryan's arrogance disappeared instantly.
When Arthur ordered him to kneel and apologize, Ryan dropped onto the wet grass in front of hundreds of guests.
Eleanor walked away with her husband and daughter believing the nightmare was finally over.
She was wrong.
Because before sunrise, Arthur's legal team would discover something hidden inside Ryan's company records.
