Chapter 1 - THE WRONG BLACK SUV

After working a brutal sixteen-hour shift at St. Catherine Medical Center, emergency nurse Samantha Whitfield accidentally climbs into the wrong black SUV outside the hospital. Instead of finding her rideshare driver, she finds billionaire Alexander Cole—the powerful CEO of Cole Meridian Holdings.
Alexander immediately recognizes her.
Nine months earlier, Samantha had helped save his life in Trauma Bay Four after a devastating car accident nearly killed him. Alexander had spent months trying to find the anonymous nurse who noticed his condition deteriorating before anyone else and refused to leave his side until surgeons took over.
Samantha remembers him but refuses to treat her actions as heroic. To her, saving people is simply what she does.
Yet Alexander notices details about her that don't fit the exhausted nurse sitting beside him: scars on her hands, unusually controlled movements, sharp awareness of her surroundings, and an instinctive calm that seems almost unnatural.
As rain covers Manhattan and the SUV moves through the city, Alexander begins asking about the woman who once saved him.
