Margaret Vance was sixty-two years old when she left behind the only home she had ever truly built.
After losing her husband when her daughter Colette was only four, Margaret spent decades fighting to create a life from nothing. She built a successful nursery in Sedona, Arizona, raised her daughter alone, and created a home filled with roses, fruit trees, and memories.
When Colette called crying and begged her mother to come to Atlanta because she “couldn’t handle everything anymore,” Margaret didn’t hesitate.
She packed her bags.
She brought homemade food.
She brought love.
But only five days after arriving, she overheard her son-in-law Brandon telling Colette that keeping her mother around was cheaper than hiring a nanny and a housekeeper.
