Chapter 1 - THE LITTLE GIRL WITH THE EMPTY CONTAINER
After three months overseas expanding his renewable-energy empire, millionaire Kais Vale Hart returns to his Mercer Island mansion expecting his six-year-old daughter Isa to run into his arms.
Instead, he finds the estate silent, neglected, and strangely abandoned.
Across the street, Isa stands barefoot beneath her faded lavender dress, clutching an empty plastic container while asking wealthy neighbor Graham Barlow for a single cookie.
“Please, sir. Just one cookie. Mommy hasn’t eaten either.”
Graham mocks her for being a rich man’s daughter begging for scraps.
